This Tuesday 29th September 2020, our interview guest is Miles Carden, Spaceport Director for both Spaceport Cornwall & Cornwall Council has the exciting responsibility to deliver a new Spaceport at Cornwall Airport Newquay and Goonhilly Earth Station working with Virgin Orbit to grow a new dynamic high-value sector cluster at the two locations.

Miles has worked in the public and the private sectors, proud to be a Chartered Surveyor having worked for over 30 years in property and economic development. He has a passion for Cornwall and a desire to help transform its economy.

Cornwall is the best place for a Spaceport in the UK, utilising the unique assets of Cornwall Airport Newquay and Goonhilly Earth Station. The UK Government has the ambition to establish a Spaceport in the UK from 2021. The initial launch is planned in 2021 with our Launch partner Virgin Orbit.

We are investing in a new Space sector cluster as a part of the Enterprise Zone programme in Cornwall. We are ambitious and want to create a Satellite Launch Programme capability through providing a safe licensed environment to operate, develop and potentially manufacture; innovative, experimental and potential radical Spaceplane systems and their payloads.

A Spaceport is a high profile opportunity for Cornwall to realise the full ambition of creating an influential new Satellite technology-based space cluster in the UK and maximise the potential for the UK and southern England. We are the only site in England able to offer the potential to capture this new technology as it develops and matures.

For £2.75 per week (approx. AUD $5.00), you will receive an invitation to the online meetings via Zoom and Eventbrite.

By strengthening the UK Space Industry network now along with our friends from 'Down Under' and worldwide, we’ll be ready for blast-off once Coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

Ray Stott & Madeleine Bandurski from SpaceSpecialists Ltd host the event.
