Consultant of Operations – Ruggedised Products

Our Client based in Ankara, Turkey is a newly founded company producing ruggedised products for the military, transportation, energy and biomedical sectors. In its founding stage, we are looking for a Consultant of Operations. The individual filling this role will work closely with and supervise department managers and must be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of the investment plan for the production of ruggedised products
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve the required quality standards and cost-effective on-time delivery
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of all production facilities
  • Direct daily operations to ensure execution of the company business plan while implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Solve manufacturing problems as well as develop assembly procedures/tests for new and existing product lines ensuring timely delivery and high product quality
  • Build a strong design and production team for ruggedised products by demonstrating exceptional leadership skills, providing a clear vision and inspiring staff to achieve excellence
  • Develop and implement strategies for ruggedised products market in Turkey and for the international market with the goal of meeting or exceeding company goals and objectives with an emphasis on quality, cost reduction and productivity improvement
  • Design simple assembly/test tooling including logical floor plans for manufacturing
  • Lead/foster a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement and open communication
  • Accountable for product metrics/performance, including quality, delivery, responsiveness and cost
  • Ensure employee relations issues are managed fairly and consistently, in coordination with Human Resources. Promote effective communication and active employee engagement by creating a positive employee environment
  • Engage as a member of the senior management team through participation in management meetings and reporting on departmental performance and initiatives
  • Deliver continuous improvement through Safety, Quality, Delivery, Responsiveness and Cost (SQDRC) metrics, using lean manufacturing tools and techniques, as well as quality requirements
  • Develop and manage the budget, control expenses, and effectively manage the capital/operating plans
  • Perform time studies to set labour standards for each production step
  • Review and approve cost control, cost estimates, manpower/facilities improvements forecasts
  • Manage engineering change taking into account production demands, material use, training and changing labour standards
  • Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders with new product introduction
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments in establishing/carrying out responsibilities
  • Develop plans for areas of new technology for the ruggedised product manufacturing along with sufficient planning for areas that support the production teams
  • Direct, monitor and appraise the performance of direct reports
  • Identify training needs and initiate development of subordinates
  • Responsible for developing, measuring, and accountability for Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as they relate to the manufacturing process

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar with experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum 15-20 years manufacturing and operations experience in ruggedised products market
  • Lean or Six Sigma manufacturing experience, training and/or certification in ruggedised products production
  • ISO 9001 or similar quality management system training and/or certification
  • Continuous improvement experience, training and/or certification
  • Financial, budgeting, and strategic planning knowledge and experience
  • Intermediate skills using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Previous experience working with ERP/MRP systems
  • Metrics/results driven methodology
  • Analytical/research approach (identify issues, research solutions and make decisions)
  • Understanding of manufacturing inventory, shipping and receiving processes
  • Experience with material planning and supplier management
