Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer

Our Client is a rapidly expanding company in the global space industry.

We are looking for an ambitious Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to work as part of a team to deliver a satellite communications project on time, on budget whilst meeting the complete requirements specifications.


The DSP Engineer main duties and responsibilities include

  • Design of the architecture and algorithms for an FPGA-based high-speed modem
  • Implement Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms in Hardware Description Language (HDL)
  • HDL design, implementation and simulation
  • System-level design and analysis of active phased array
  • Documentation of design, simulation results and verification
  • Implement low-level device drivers in embedded C/C++

Qualifications & Experience

  • Good Honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 8+years’ experience in a related field
  • Excellent digital design skills for FPGA implementations using HDLs (VHDL or Verilog and demonstrated by delivered examples)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital communications, control theory, modulation/demodulation techniques, adaptive modulation, digital filters, FFTs, error-correction coding, multi-rate signal processing, phase-locked loops
  • Experience of system modelling/testing with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Embedded system skills (e.g. C/C++programming)
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills for project documentation, reports and white papers
  • Good understanding of various challenges and techniques in RF transceiver IC design
  • Experience of working on long term projects away from home
  • Experience with working on an SoC FPGA platform (e.g. Xilinx Zynq- 7000 series
  • Experience of working with Real-Time OS, embedded Linux, programming ARM processors or 16-bit/32-bit MCUs


  • Knowledge of TCP-IP/SPI/I2C/UART/USB protocols
  • Experience of interfacing with high-speed ADC/DAC data
  • PhD in a relevant field
