Operations Manager

Our Client is looking for an Operations Manager for a new satellite manufacture which will disrupt the existing satellite communications market.

Their satellite manufacturing will be producing compact communication satellites (500 Kg - 1000 Kg) for Geostationary orbit (GEO) systems for operation around the world and a range of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite platforms and applications.

We are therefore seeking the highest calibre individuals to join their design and manufacturing team.

Responsibilities

The Operations Manager will be responsible for all aspects regarding the satellite operations preparation, operations centre definition and setup, operational procedure creation and verification and interface testing with the spacecraft and ground segment

  • Setup the test and operations preparation facility including HW/SW
  • Manage the personnel for the initial definition and coding of the spacecraft database, mimics and initial AIT test procedures
  • Define and setup the operations facilities, mission analysis and flight dynamics facilities and the creation and definition of the spacecraft simulations
  • Setup the operations facility including the mission control systems, network and computing infrastructure
  • Setup the operations facility flight dynamics and mission analysis facilities
  • Setup and manage the production of the spacecraft simulator
  • Define and setup any further facilities necessary for the operating centre
  • Define and setup the interfaces to the TT&C ground stations and gateway facilities including networks
  • Support the definition, location and tasking of the ground station facilities for TT&C, ranging and gateway content including networking to ground telecommunications
  • Setup and manage the production of the operational test procedures
  • Manage the operational interface for the system verification tests
  • Work with the operations and ground segment interface manager to support the procedures for system verification on-ground including SVT, launch rehearsal and LEOP including interfaces to the launch site

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in spacecraft operations preferably in a management role for a communications satellite system
  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft verification, testing and operating systems
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong technical background and proven program history

Location and Duration

  • The location for the task is in Melbourne, Florida and some amount of home working and travel may be envisaged
  • This task is envisaged for 2 years commencing December 2023, with the possibility for the position to be permanent

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the US – US Citizens, work permit/greencard holders etc.
