We are delighted to bring this opportunity with one of our key Clients in Australia. Working on LEO small satellite constellations in the IOT & M2M markets, this lead position involves the development of novel communications payloads & the responsibility to lead a team of highly specialised Engineers.

This opportunity is in an exciting start-up company that is both agile and has fantastic upside potential. You will have the leadership role for a team that is responsible for the design and build of the next generation of Satcom payloads where effective and efficient teamwork is essential.

• Lead a team of highly specialised Engineers designing new communications payloads (S and L-band) for LEO small satellite constellations
• Early stage design, specification and testing/verification of spacecraft communications payloads and their associated ground segment for the End Users and ground stations
• Project management working to strict deadlines, making critical technical decisions balancing cost, technology readiness, schedule, reliability and programmatic considerations
• Work closely with both internal and external stakeholders on the communications architecture
• Ensure interfaces are clearly defined and overall system performance requirements are met

Qualifications & Experience
• Masters or PhD Electrical Engineering degree or related discipline
• 10+ years' industry experience in satellite telecommunications engineering
• Experience in architecting, specifying, testing and verifying various satellite communications payloads including beamforming
• Worked inside Advanced Projects/Pre-Phase A/Conceptual Design teams conducting multiple trade studies and requirements definition in the early project phases of communications payloads and systems, including conceptual and preliminary design
• Detailed system level design trades for key satellite performance characteristics (EIRP, G/T, linearity etc.)
• Excellent understanding of telecommunications theory
• Technical leadership of engineering teams
• Experience working with relevant space industry standards and quality environments
• Excellent written and verbal English technical communication skills at all business levels, including customers and suppliers

Preferred Skills
• Professional R&D experience
• Ground station design and operations
• Software Defined Radio (SDR) programming and development
• Satellite payload design for power-constrained user terminals and/or phased arrays
• Full life-cycle satellite payload development and operations including design, test, verification, in-orbit commissioning and operational trouble-shooting
• Experience in a start-up environment
• Software development
• DOORS and/or similar requirements management system
