Project Manager

Our Client is looking for a Project Manager to join their growing team.

They are a UK-based Electric Propulsion company with many years of experience in the design, development and production of cutting-edge electric propulsion systems for a diverse range of applications. Projects range from early R&D to high levels of maturity flight systems and cover a range of technologies.

You will be joining a highly skilled team with a variety of backgrounds from large aerospace companies to academia.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Project Manager for the role dedicated to R&D and production projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, with work experience in the space industry preferable.

As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in cutting edge electric propulsion technology development.

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of development projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule and quality standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, procurement and quality assurance to coordinate project activities and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress and milestones
  • Create high quality documentation for both internal decision makers and the company’s clients/primes
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and implement effective risk management strategies to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and excellence within the project team
  • Contribute to effective resourcing across the company portfolio in adherence to company’s objectives and priorities
  • Manage and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline, such as Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Physics/Mathematics
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related profession and a minimum 2 years of experience managing technology development projects OR a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Proven experience managing small and medium engineering projects using either traditional management methodologies (Waterfall) or iterative/Agile methods
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute project plans, manage budgets and deliver projects on time and within scope
  • Ability to produce high quality management documentation based on technical information
  • Experience with project management tools and software such as MS Project
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Excel

Preferred

  • Technical background and/or education
  • Familiarity with space industry standards (ECSS) and basic understanding of electric propulsion technologies with experience working on space technology development projects
  • Experience with risk management and risk management techniques

Location

This is a full time position in the UK.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold all appropriate documentation and permits to work in the UK. The company will sponsor eligible candidates for the UK VISA process.
